MULTI-GENERATIONAL CONVERSION, WEISESTRASSE, BERLIN

The brief was to convert and diversify an existing building layout, that at best allowed 2-person households. The goal was to achieve a vibrantly mixed house community with as many social backgrounds, generations, and forms of co-habitation as possible – able to set an example on how to update this predominant Berlin housing type. The individual apartments are redesigned to potentially be merged whenever possible and needed. The connection scenarios are flexible and allow various options and unit sizes, always depending on vacant and adjacent apartments.
